NDI

Encoder screenshot

The NDI Control allows you to display NDI streams on Stage. It can also act as a multiviewer with the possibility of selecting streams and evaluating the selection. When using Satellite as the source of the NDI stream UNIVERSE even provides KVM capabilities. In the default workspace the NDI Control is available from the fly-out menu that can be opened with the little arrow in the top-right corner of the Monitor COntrol icon in the Toolbar.

Properties

Capture Framerate

In order to reduce load on the system when displaying and decoding multiple NDI streams UNIVERSE offers the possibility to reduce the framerate of NDI streams. By default UNIVERSE uses the native framerate but it can also reduce the framerate to half, a third or a quarter of the original framerate.

WebInterface Quality

This Property affects the size of the NDI frames and thus traffic that is created when displaying the stream on the Web Interface. Reducing the quality setting may result in better performance.

Default Tally State

This sets the default tally state that is reflecten for the NDI source displayed in this Control.

The options are:

State Description
Off The tally state in off. Selected by default
Preview The tally state is set to preview.
Program The tally state is set to program.
Both The tally state is set to preview and program.

NDI Mirroring

A NDI stream that is displayed on multiple Stages allocates system ressources for every instance of the stream separatly. Since this is a common use case UNIVERSE allows you to mirror an existing NDI Control that already displays a stream. This feature utilizes the graphics card and is therefore much more resource-efficient than displaying the NDI stream in multiple NDI Controls.

NDI Sources List

In the Properties iof the NDI Control there is a list of the NDI sources available in the networks. Select a source to show the stream in the NDI Control. The source of the Control can also be set using the UNIVERSE Device.
